Plan your conference!

Only one more week to go! Time to start planning your days. In this news article you will find an overview of extra activities you can take part in, besides the scientific programme.

Exhibition floor

This is the place to be in between the sessions. Get a drink, a snack and have lunch. Expand your network by socializing with us (NWO), our partners and exhibitors, and with your fellow scientists. We have several demonstrations from Large-scale Research Infrastructures for you to check out, the vacancy board with interesting career opportunities and of course the posters.

Check out our exhibitors in the menu under Exhibitors.

Demonstrations

At the exhibition floor you will find various demonstrations provided by projects from the Large-scale Research Infrastructures (LRI), funded through the National Roadmap for Large-scale Research Facilities. All seven are tightly connected to the Life sciences and will be happy to explain and showcase what they have to offer to facilitate your research.

Art exhibitions

Three students from the Royal Academy of Art, Nesie Junyi Wang, Anna Andrejew, Mayte Breed, created artworks in cooperation with researchers from the programme Closed Cycles. Their art will be displayed on the exhibition floor. During the breaks they are open for a chat, make sure to visit them!

Capturing the art of Life: make sure to take a look at the artworks nominated for the Visualisation contest, that were sent in by participants and vote for your favorite work in the app!

Social programme

Bionieuws pub quiz: after last year’s successful edition, this year the pub quiz is organised again by our partner Bionieuws. Sign up as a team (5 to 6 persons) at the Bionieuws stand at the exhibition floor if you want to join!

Morning walk: do you want to reload your battery and start the second day fresh again? Then get up early and join the guided walk in the dunes on Thursday morning. The guided tour starts at 07:15 hrs in the restaurant. Signing up is mandatory: please do so at the info desk.

Pitch podium @ exhibition floor

The pitch corner is open during the poster sessions on both congress days. The first 15 minutes a selection of poster presenters will pitch their research. So if you don’t know yet which poster to visit and would like to be inspired, check out the poster pitches! The pitches are separate from, and in addition to, the regular poster sessions, so poster presenters who pitch their research are also presenting their poster during one of the two poster sessions.

New this year: Three recently funded large research projects will pitch what their projects are about during lunch on the first day.

Speed dating with companies

Would you like to discuss your ideas or thoughts directly with one of the participating companies of NWO Life, or are you interested in their career opportunities? Grab your chance and sign up for a speed date.

Announcements for other NWO Life participants

Do you have a message you would like to announce to other NWO Life participants? That is possible at our announcement board! You can think of the announcement of a congress that is interesting for Life scientists or vacancies in your research group.  Announcements should fit on A4 format. You can bring a printed version of your message or write it down on the spot on the available forms.

Research Community Networking Get-Together

For (potential) members of the five research communities within the life sciences, NWO Life is the hub to physically meet, connect and discuss major topics addressing the further development of the field. There will be a networking get-together to connect with each other on Wednesday afternoon. This is open for all participants of NWO Life!

Topics that will be discussed include: AI (RC1), interdisciplinary collaborations (RC1), the future of the research community (RC2), scientific integrity (RC3 and 4), reproducibility (RC3 and 4), and Large Scale Research Infrastructure (RC5)
