The Essentials of Life: save the date for NWO Life2025

Richard Lenski

We are thrilled to announce the next edition of NWO Life, taking place on 27-28 May 2025. Mark your calendars for an inspiring event that promises to delve into the essentials of Life.

Keynote Speaker: Richard Lenski

We are honoured to welcome Professor Richard Lenski as our keynote speaker. Renowned for his groundbreaking Long-Term Evolution Experiment, which has been ongoing since 1988. Professor Lenski and his team have maintained and studied 12 populations of E. coli for 75,000 generations. With an interdisciplinary team, Professor Lenski has also led research on the evolution of digital organisms—computer programs that replicate, mutate, compete, and evolve to perform new functions. We look forward to hearing his insights!

What are the essentials of NWO Life?

This year’s programme is redesigned to cover all corners of the field at various scale levels, from cellular biology to individual organisms, ecosystems, and beyond. Our new and improved setup makes cross-disciplinary inspiration more accessible than before. Speakers will get into the “why” behind their research, not just the “how,” covering topics such as:

  • cell-to-cell communication;
  • mechanistic modelling;
  • environmental effects on life;
  • model systems;
  • multimodal data integration;
  • metabolism;
  • evolution;
  • and more.

Join us for a journey into the Essentials of Life, where you will gain insights from leading experts and engage in thought-provoking discussions. Can’t wait? Check out the recap of 2024!

Stay tuned for more details and registration information. We look forward to seeing you at NWO Life2025!
