At the Leiden Centre for Applied Bioscience (LCAB) of Hogeschool Leiden, we tailor DNA based characterization, identification and detection technology for practical applications. This includes the development of sampling methods, optimization of DNA preparations for sequencing and implement subsequent bioinformatic pipelines. The key sequencing technology we use is nanopore sequencing developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). 
To meet the possibilities of this technology, we did set up a laboratory with minimal resources and deployment efforts. The application of such a pop-up lab has great potential for low threshold genetic monitoring and diagnostic settings for environmental, plant, human and animal health.
