Evelina Tutucci

Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Evelina Tutucci is a tenured Assistant Professor in Systems Biology in the A-LIFE Department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She received her PhD from the University of Geneva, where she studied nuclear mRNA export and quality control, and completed postdoctoral training with Robert H. Singer at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, developing RNA imaging tools to visualize the full life cycle of single mRNAs in living cells.

Her research addresses the spatiotemporal regulation of gene expression, with a focus on single-molecule RNA imaging and single-cell microscopy in microbial systems. Since 2019, she has led an interdisciplinary lab combining advanced fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analysis, microfluidics, and molecular genetics to study gene regulation in pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi during growth, morphological transitions, and interactions with the environment.
