Peter Kwant

PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research

Peter’s research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms that underlie the transfer of maternal stress - via STMs - to the developing offspring in livebearing fishes, with a focus on the role of the placenta. To achieve this, he is comparing closely related livebearing fish species with and without placentas. Peter’s project is part of the EU HORIZON-RIA consortium ‘HappyMums’, which focuses on understanding, predicting, and treating depression in pregnancy to improve mental health outcomes in mothers and offspring.
