Pranas Grigaitis

Postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit / Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

Pranas' research focuses on understanding the behavior of individual metabolism(s) and higher-level metabolic architectures based on economic principles, i.e. an interplay of yields, investments, benefits and objectives. Prior to his move to Germany in late 2025, Pranas has been working in a Human Frontiers Science Program Organization-funded project on metabolic division of labor in ant colonies. Making use of his scientific upbringing as a microbial systems biologist - among other facets of ant STMs - he has been focusing on stratifying the role of microbially-derived small molecules in STMs that circulate in ant colonies.
